Thank you for your input.

The intention of the Laneways Masterplan is a key strategic objective, which will guide the future direction of Adelaide’s laneways and assist Council in identifying prioritisation and future upgrades.

As a direct outcome of the Laneways Masterplan, the Adelaide City Council, in partnership with the State Government, announced $14.6 million for the upgrade of the Market to Riverbank link.

The Market to Riverbank link (the ‘Link’), which includes Bank Street, Leigh Street, Topham Mall, Bentham Street and Pitt Street, provides a significant route from the Adelaide Railway Station to the Adelaide Central Markets for more than 15,000 tourists and locals on a daily basis.

The upgrade of the Link will provide a more intimate route for pedestrians and cyclists through beautifully paved footpaths, continuous street tree canopy, public art, lighting and street furniture, and the redevelopment of currently under-utilised buildings for retail, dining, and small business purposes.

The upgrade is an exciting opportunity to develop our laneways and bring vibrancy, people, investment and ongoing development to the Link.

The first stage will be the upgrade of Bank Street. This is due for completion by end of 2017. The other laneways in the Link will follow.
