Project Information

The purpose of this consultation is to seek the community's feedback on the replacement of the current toilet facility at the corner of Greenhill and Glen Osmond Roads in Park 17.

Its replacement is forecast for renewal in the 24/25 financial year. As part of the renewal its current location and service to the local community and stakeholders is being reviewed. We would like your feedback on proposed toilet facility locations to inform future development of the toilet facility in Park 17.

Consultation Update

We have considered all feedback received regarding the toilet location. The community didn't express a clear preference for any of the proposed locations (see response graph below), and also provided additional information regarding usage of the toilet in this area.

Based on the feedback received we have proposed a new location that meets the needs of the park's current users and enhances the overall experience for all visitors to Park 17. We asked the community for feedback on the new proposed location.

Background

The original toilet facility was built in 1965 and has often been promoted as a design exemplar for toilet design in the 60’s and 70’s however, due to accessibility requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), this facility’s continued operation is compromised.

The existing facility cannot be upgraded to comply with current DDA requirements within the existing building footprint.

The recommendation by the City of Adelaide Asset Team when aligning with the Draft Public Toilet Operation Guidelines document is to replace the existing toilet with a new compliant accessible toilet facility.

Your feedback will assist the City of Adelaide in locating a new facility that is properly considered and better services popular events and activity-orientated spaces within Park 17.

What happens next?

We are looking at the data from the responses gathered online and in hard copy, and will report back to the City of Adelaide Asset Team, Kadaltilla Advisory Group and to you as to what we found. What we learn from the online survey and written submissions will be used to inform the future development of the toilet facility in Park 17.

A summary on the findings of the survey will be prepared for the City of Adelaide Asset Team and Kadaltilla Advisory Group and made available online through the City of Adelaide website and other City of Adelaide publications.
