Consultation has concluded

To help inform Council’s response to the State Government, we sought additional feedback on the proposal from the Makris Group.

An analysis of the proposed redevelopment of 88 O'Connell Street (former LeCornu site) was prepared for Council by URPS (see Attachment A below). The report included an overview of a non-statutory community consultation conducted by Council. The Council consultation and the report from URPS raised a number of significant concerns.

Council supports the development of this site, however Council considers that the various benefits, concerns and potential implications resulting from the proposed development have not been fully investigated at this point and a decision with respect to the development should not be made until the matters outlined above and in the URPS report are resolved. These issues were outlined in a letter to the Development Assessment Commission (DAC) from Lord Mayor Martin Haese.

It was requested by the Lord Mayor that the General Manager, City Planning and Design was provided with an opportunity to appear before DAC at its June 2015 meeting to put forward Council's views when the matter was being considered

The community response to the engagement undertaken by Council was forwarded to DAC along with Council’s comments about the development.
