Following recent legislation changes (including the passing of the Statutes Amendment (Local Government Review) Act 2021) revisions to the City of Adelaide Standing Orders have been made. View the current City of Adelaide Standing Orders


Outcome of Consultation on Council's Code Of Practice for Access to Meetings and Documents

That Council:

1. Notes the feedback received, on the way access is provided to Council and Committee meetings and associated documents, in response to consultation on the Code of Practice – Access to Meetings & Documents contained in Item 8 on the Agenda for the meeting of the Finance & Business Services Committee held on 20 October 2015; and

2. Notes that such feedback will inform practice and the review of the Standing Orders including the following specific requests:

2.1 To include the vote of each Council member on all motions and amendments in meeting minutes.

2.2 To include a clause in the Standing Orders to the effect that: when a matter involves sensitive commercial information, it should be discussed in two parts, with the broad issue debated in public, and only the sensitive commercial component discussed in confidence.

    Council is committed to providing and encouraging public access to Council and Committee meetings.

    You are invited to review the way Council provides access to Council and Committee meetings and documents. Please comment on the Standing Orders in relation to how you can attend, view and/or participate in a meeting and how you can access meeting information.

    This feedback will be incorporated as part of the Council’s current review of the Standing Orders.

    Elements of the Code of Practice – Access to Meetings and Documents are contained within the Standing Orders and address the Public notice and Agendas for Council and Committee meetings; access for the public to attend Council and Committee meetings; and a record of decision making at Council and Committee meetings.

    Provide feedback to Council on whether the current Code of Practice supports transparency and awareness of Council decision making through access to meetings and documents.
