Background
Asset Management Plans are regularly reviewed, but are required to be completely updated within two years of a local government election. The current Council were elected in November 2014.
As part of the review of the Plans, preliminary engagement with the community was undertaken from November 2015 to January 2016.
This consultation primarily focused on understanding what the community thought about the current provision and management of infrastructure assets.
The feedback received in the first stage of the consultation process has been incorporated into the draft Asset Management Plans where possible.
What we have heard
Feedback received to date has generally been positive. Some of the recommendations received during consultation on these Plans and also received during development of the City of Adelaide’s 2016-2020 Strategic Plan include:
improved and increased cycle paths throughout the city;
further investment into environmental sustainability;
improve the water quality in the Torrens; and
improved maintenance and provision of public toilets.
Project Information
Asset Management Plans are a key component of Council’s strategic framework and are used to ensure council’s assets continue to be well maintained and provide appropriate services to the community.
As part of the preparation of the Plans, consultation with regular users of the facilities and services provided by these assets is important to ensure their efficient and effective management now and in the future.
This consultation aims to:
Provide feedback on what we have heard to date and what action(s) we have taken
Provide a further opportunity for comment on the plans before they are formally adopted
Meet our legislation requirement under the Local Government Act 1999.
