Project Information

The City of Adelaide received an application from The Austral to hold Austral East End Street Party on a portion of Rundle Street and a portion of Bent Street on New Year’s Eve (NYE) 2023.

The event times are proposed as 5pm on Sunday 31 December 2023 – 12:30am on Monday 1 January 2024 and includes a music presentation with a stage facing East on Rundle Street or a stage facing North on Bent Street. There would also be a bar service point on the roads and supporting furniture for patrons.

To facilitate this activity, it is proposed that the below roads will be closed to vehicles as per the below schedule:

Location

From

To

Rundle Street

Between Synagogue Place and Frome Street

Bent Street

Between Rundle Street and York Street

1pm on Sunday 31 December 2023

1:30am on Monday 1 January 2024

To facilitate the proposed road closure, all on-street parking spaces on the closed section of the roads would be changed to ‘No stopping – Tow-Away’ for the duration of the road closure.

Pedestrian access would be maintained East / West and North/ South along an adjacent footpath/s on the closed streets.

Under the Local Government Act 1999, the City of Adelaide is required to consult the public before it can grant a permit for an event that requests to use a public road for business purposes, and the said purpose will require whole or partial road closure(s) that may impede the passage of traffic to a material degree.

We asked for feedback on the application to grant a temporary closure for a portion of Rundle Street and Bent Street for the purpose of the Austral East End Street Party NYE 2023
