City Bikeways

Consultation has concluded

The Project

The City Bikeways project will introduce two continuous and separated bikeways through the City of Adelaide, one from north to south and the other from east to west.

The bikeways will be designed and planned in response to the local circumstances of each streetscape along each route. The final designs may include improvements to landscaping, lighting, paving and signage where appropriate.

North-South Bikeway

The North-South Bikeway will build on the existing bikeway on Frome Street and connect the existing Rugby/Porter Bikeway in Unley to the Braund Road Bike Boulevard in Prospect.

The City of Adelaide has successfully delivered a separated bikeway from Rundle Street to Carrington Street.

Frome Street - North Terrace to Rundle Street

Consultation is currently underway with directly adjacent stakeholders on Frome Street between North Terrace and Rundle Street, closing at 5pm Friday 06 December 2019. Please refer to the Concept Plan to the right.

The section of Frome Street between North Terrace and Rundle Street is currently impacted by the construction site for the ‘Adelaidean’ development and that further adjacent sites will be developed in the future. Construction of this section of the bikeway will therefore necessarily occur in stages. The first construction stage will be on the western side of the street, from Rundle Street to the northern edge of the ‘Adelaidean’ development.

We will work closely with private developers to achieve a smooth delivery of the project. Further staging of the bikeway works will be determined by final coordination with the development works on the street.

East-West Bikeway

The East-West Bikeway route will connect with the North-South Bikeway on Frome Street.
