Project update: February 2014

On 15 June 2013 the Australian and South Australian Government announced $100M in funding toward two new facilities that would form part of the City’s new health and biomedical precinct. One of the

facilities is planned to be constructed on the site of the existing City Skate Park.

Adelaide City Council leases the site of the City Skate Park from the State Government. On 18 June 2013, the State Government provided formal notice of termination of the lease, with the termination date being
officially 18 June 2014. Council has investigated costs in relocating the City Skate Park and estimates, based on best practice interstate and overseas, that a new skate facility will cost around $3 million.

From 7 January to 24 February 2014 Council consulted the community that was using, visiting and interacting with the City Skate Park for ideas that would inform its decision-making on a future skate facility for the City. Consultation included three (3) on-site visits:

  • Wednesday 5 February - 6pm -9pm
  • Thursday 13 February - 4pm - 7pm
  • Saturday 22 February - 10am - 3pm.

The outcomes of the consultation can be viewed here.
