What is a master plan?

A master plan is a plan that shows an overall development concept that includes urban design, landscaping, infrastructure, service provision, present and future land use and built form. It consists of three dimensional images, texts, diagrams, statistics, reports, maps and aerial photos that describe how a specific location will be developed. It provides a structured approach and creates a clear framework for developing an area.

Why does the North Adelaide Golf Course need a Master Plan?

As the most centrally located golf course complex in any Australian capital city, the NAGC is ideally located to capitalise on recent and proposed improvements to the Riverbank and Adelaide Oval precincts, and to take advantage of the growth in convention based tourism to Adelaide.

Our aim is to grow and improve the services and experience offered by North Adelaide Golf Course and hearing from those directly and indirectly involved with its operations is essential to this process.

Are you planning to close the golf course?

No. This process is about looking at ways we can make this facility an even bigger attraction for locals and visitors.

This master plan gives us an opportunity to provide a unique facility in the city for South Australians and tourists from all over the world to enjoy. That is our primary focus.

Are you planning to change the membership structure at the North Adelaide Golf Course?

Council has appointed Consultants GHDWoodhead to produce the Master Plan, which will incorporate a review of all aspects of the golf links including course design, clubhouse facilities and services, and golf operations to ensure the precinct’s long-term commercial sustainability. Membership structures will form part of the overall review of operations. No decisions have been taken at this point in time.

Will Council be commencing construction works soon?

The master plan will propose a plan for the staged implementation of works over a period of up to 5 years.  As Council has not allocated budget to this project, we are unable to provide timing for the commencement of works at this stage.

I enjoy walking my dog through the golf course. Will I still be able to do this?

Pirltawardli/Park 1 is community land, and it will remain accessible to all users.  You will still be able to walk your dog on trails and paths in Pirltawardli/Park 1.

Is Council looking at traffic management, access and car parking for the golf course Pirltawardli/Park 1?

We are aware of the various demands for parking in the vicinity of the golf course.  Car parking and traffic management is therefore an important element in the development of the master plan.

How do I provide my feedback?

UPDATE: There will be a number of ways in which you will be able to provide your feedback when the next stage of consultation on the Draft Master Plan opens in the coming months of 2018.

    What happens to my feedback?

All community feedback will be compiled and summarised for presentation to the Adelaide Park Lands Authority and to a Council Committee workshop.  The summary of feedback will help to inform the development of the draft Master Plan, and will be included in the draft Master Plan report.

It is expected that the draft Master Plan will be submitted for Council endorsement by June 2018.

How do I know my feedback has been received?

All feedback forms, submissions or correspondence will be acknowledged either by email or in writing so that you know your comments/feedback has been received.
