We would like your feedback on an application for a permit for the temporary closure of a portion of Rundle Road to facilitate the Illuminate Adelaide event site area.
Project Background and Information
Following on from the success of Van Gogh Alive at O’Connell Street North Adelaide in 2021, Illuminate Adelaide brings another major digital art exhibition to Adelaide as a centre piece of its 2022 program. Presented in a purpose-built pavilion, it is proposed to be placed in the East End Precinct and will activate the city and benefit surrounding business.
To facilitate this activity, it is proposed that the below roads will be closed to vehicles as per the below schedule:
Location | From/To |
Rundle Road - A section between East Terrace and Dequetteville Terrace | 6.00 am, 13 June 2022 to 5.00 pm, 4 September 2022 |
The extended event site on the road will be fenced during the dates above. Pedestrian access will be restricted on a section of the northern footpath and maintained along the Southern footpath on each of the dates listed above. The bike lanes along this section of Rundle Road will be closed, with cyclists diverted around the closed road area.
On street carparking in the Eastern end of Rundle Road would still be maintained.
All SA Water access points in the road (water & sewer) will remain accessible at all times.
To facilitate the road closure, the on-street parking spaces within the closed section of the road will be changed to ‘No stopping – Tow-Away’ for the duration of the road closure.
