The purpose is to encourage more people to visit and spend time in the street through the artistic and culturally sensitive lighting installations that create a well-illuminated and inviting environment.

This will include an upgrade of the functional lighting and new creative lighting installation with a day and night presence, creating a sense of vibrancy that draws on elements of the Central Markets and Chinese culture.

We have included murals in the creative lighting design with a day and night presence to enhance the artistic and cultural reference to modern China.

It will begin in December 2019 and be completed by 20 January 2020.

The creative lighting and artistic murals on the buildings will create a significant physical difference in the street and an exciting sense of vibrancy.  The functional lighting will harmonize with the creative lighting and ensure the street is well illuminated. Please refer to the attached visuals for more information.

Yes, the street will be open and operating for business as normal. There will be construction staging plans available prior to the construction beginning. There will be limited access to some public areas from time to time.

A street upgrade design (including the paving) has been completed and the construction is estimated to begin in March 2021.
