Project background and information

Background

The feedback received during the preparation of the Adelaide Park Lands Management Strategy 2015-2025 (adopted by Council in December 2016) told us that you want parks that are vibrant and active, with facilities to encourage more people to visit and stay longer. People also want parks with good path networks and lighting for safe morning and evening use.

In November 2016, following community consultation, Council approved a 42-year Park Lands lease agreement for the SACA’s continued use of a portion of Narnungga (Park 25) (Community Sports Hub). The construction of the main oval and redevelopment of the new community sports building has commenced, with completion scheduled for December 2017.

Project Information

The Narnungga (Park 25) Urban Park project is a partnership between the State Government and the City of Adelaide. We are seeking comment on the draft concept plan to guide future improvements, and feedback received from the community will be used to inform the final concept design for the park.

The vision, titled “Park 25: Narnungga, Your backyard in the West End” aims to Establish a safe much loved inviting and authentic local place in Adelaide’s western Park Lands, known for its active recreation and play opportunities and as a place of respite and quiet reflection. This is underpinned by Narnungga’s integrated connection to the West End and Adelaide’s Park Lands creating a beautiful green entry into the City.
