What will the works involve?
The installation of garden beds and new tree plantings on Sturt Street between West Terrace and Whitmore Square. Kerb realignments for improved accessibility and safety.
When will construction start and how long will it take?
Works are expected to start early 2023 and take 4-6 weeks. Construction activities will be scheduled in consultation with individual stakeholders to minimise disruption.
What can I expect during the works?
There will be some traffic disruption and noise while works are underway however all efforts will be undertaken to minimise disruption.
Will there be loss of car parking?
No, there will be one new car park on the northern side of Sturt Street
Will my bins be picked up?
Yes, bins will be collected. All services will be maintained during the construction phase.
Will businesses keep trading during construction?
Sturt Street will be open for business as usual throughout the upgrade.
City of Adelaide will work in conjunction with the construction contractor to minimise disruption.
Access will be maintained to all businesses during construction.
Who will maintain the new garden beds?
All new garden beds will be added to Council’s maintenance program.
