We have received an application from The Gardeners of Unearthly Delights for the use of Rundle Park / Kadlitpinna for The Garden of Unearthly Delights to take place from 14 February to 17 March 2013. The Garden of Unearthly Delights a is multi-venue precinct that stages performances as part of the Adelaide Fringe 2013.

Before council can grant a temporary event lease we are required to consult with the community as it may affect their access to the Park Lands

    The Garden of Unearthly Delights has been held in the East Park Lands since 2000. It is a multi-venue precinct staging a range of performances including comedy, theatre, music and cabaret during the Adelaide Fringe 2013. Catering outlets, bars, market stalls and amusements also operate in the precinct.

    The set up of event infrastructure is scheduled to start on 24 January with pull down to be completed by 31 March 2013. The precinct will be licenced and have the capacity for 8,000 people at any one time. The crowd will be a combination of performance ticket holders and venue patrons.

    Proposed Opening Hours:
    12:00 pm to 1:00 am on Mondays to Wednesdays
    10:00 am to 3:00 am on Thursdays to Saturdays
    10:00 am to 1:00 am on Sundays
    *10:00 am to 3:00 am Sunday 10 March for Adelaide Cup weekend

    Council is committed to creating a vibrant city full of exciting and popular cultural and artistic events. The Garden of Unearthly Delights will be registered as a part of Adelaide Fringe 2013. It anticipated the precinct will attract 700,000 people throughout the event duration.

    An estimated 1.59 million people attended the Adelaide Fringe in 2012. Adelaide receives world-wide media coverage, including television, throughout the event period.

    Access to Rundle Park / Kadlitpinna will be restricted for pedestrians and cyclists from 24 January 2013 to 31 March 2013. Areas will be cordoned off for public safety for limited periods during the set up and pull down. Refer to Frequently Asked Questions for more detail.

    The Garden of Unearthly Delights must comply with the Adelaide City Council’s Noise Mitigation Standard Operating Procedures.

    The event organiser will be responsible for minimising impacts on the Park Lands by following Adelaide City Council’s Standard Operating Procedures for Events in the Park Lands. The event organiser will be responsible for restoring the park at the end of the event.
