Background

All local governments are required to have a regional public health plan under s51 of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011 (SA) (The Act), and to review and update their plans at least every five years. The City of Adelaide’s first public health plan A Better Place to Live has been reviewed and a new public health plan for the City of Adelaide has been developed: the draft City of Adelaide Wellbeing Plan 2020 – 2025. The Wellbeing Plan reflects the community health and wellbeing outcomes and key actions identified in the City of Adelaide Strategic Plan 2020 – 2024.

Aligning the Strategic Plan and Wellbeing Plan strengthens both Plans, ensuring that key actions towards achieving the identified health and wellbeing outcomes are appropriately programmed and resourced. Alignment of the Plans also means the Wellbeing Plan will benefit from the rigorous monitoring and reporting framework associated with the Strategic Plan.

The Wellbeing Plan has already been through the first phase of consultation legislated under The Act: initial review by the Minister for Health and Wellbeing. This current consultation represents the second legislated phase: community consultation.

Project Information

The draft City of Adelaide Wellbeing Plan 2020 – 2025 meets Council’s legislated obligation to have in place a current Regional Public Health Plan. The Wellbeing Plan identifies community health and wellbeing outcomes and associated key actions to achieve those outcomes.
