Adelaide Marathon Festival 2020

We would like your feedback on an event road application from the South Australian Road Runners Club to hold the Adelaide Marathon Festival in the City of Adelaide.

Project Background and Information

The South Australian Road Runners Club has been holding the Adelaide Marathon Festival within the City of Adelaide for the past 42 years. The Adelaide Marathon Festival consists of four integrated courses:

  • a 5 km Kids Fun Run;
  • a 10 km course;
  • a 21.1 km course, and
  • a 42.2 km course.

Each of the running courses starts and finishes adjacent to Adelaide Oval. The course winds through the Park Lands and uses several roads located within the city and the Botanical Gardens.

Background

Under the Local Government Act 1999, the City of Adelaide is required to consult the public before it can grant a permit for an event that requests to use a public road for business purposes, and which will require whole or partial road closure(s) that may impede the passage of traffic to a material degree.
