Help us understand how you think the city’s 'Streets and Transportation' and 'Parks Lands and Open Spaces' assets are performing.

Project Information

We are in the process of undertaking a comprehensive review of the levels of service for our diverse and complex infrastructure portfolio which includes a range of assets including: Buildings, Water Infrastructure, Park Lands and Open Spaces, Transportation Assets, Urban Elements, and Public Lighting and Electrical. In this consultation we are focusing on two services: Park Lands and Open Spaces and Streets and Transportation.

This is a periodic review which enables us to plan our asset management efforts, optimise outcomes for the community and prioritise resources for areas of greatest need in line with Council’s overall strategic and budgetary objectives.

Streets and Transportation, includes several different assets located within the transport category including roads and kerbs; on-road cycling paths; footpaths; stormwater infrastructure; street lighting and electrical; street furniture; trees; and signage.

Park Lands and Open Space, includes several different assets located within the Park Lands and other open spaces including footpaths and shared paths; Park Lands parking facilities; water infrastructure; park lighting; park furniture; park trees and tree bases; park signage; turf, garden beds and irrigation systems; ornamental lakes; and water features.

Background

In February 2019 Council approved the Asset Management Policy. The Asset Management Policy outlines the City of Adelaide’s approach to sustainably managing its infrastructure assets for the benefit of current and future communities. It enables the development and embedding of a consistent approach to asset management processes across the organisation for the lifecycle of assets.

The levels of service within an Asset Management Plan (AMP) determine at what state the asset stock will be maintained and when intervention, such as treatments or replacement, will occur. It will also define the nature of replacements. For example, whether a simple like-to-like or more complex build-back-better approach is taken.

This is a multi-stage project and we will engage with you at several touchpoints during the next two years. Click here to review the detailed Timeline.

Engagement will be undertaken in stages with the following associated timelines.

    Stage 1: Between 22 October 2021 and 12 November 2021

The first step is to engage the community on levels of service for Park Lands and Open Space and Streets and Transportation. This will include intercept and targeted surveys, as well as online consultation through this platform. Click here to complete the survey.

    Stage 2: Early 2022

A second stage of consultation will follow in early 2022, focusing on the levels of service for the remaining four asset categories.

    Stage 3: Early 2022

The feedback from the two prior consultations on the levels of service will be used to draft the six Asset Management Plans (AMPs). It is envisaged that initially two draft AMPs will go out for community consultation as draft documents for final comment in early 2022. Once endorsed, these two AMPs will be incorporated into the Annual Business Plan and Budget 2022-2023.

Council will undertake a 21-day public consultation as per legislative requirement (Local Government Act 1999 (SA)).

    Stage 4: Early 2023
