Consultation has concluded.
In August 2019, the City of Adelaide engaged an independent consultant to undertake a needs analysis to ascertain the key features that should be prioritised to best meet the current and future needs of the community if Council were to replace the existing Adelaide Aquatic Centre with a new facility.
Given the age and condition of the Centre and the future population projections, the Needs Analysis findings will guide future planning for the facility consistent with the principles of the Active City Strategy.
Your feedback will:
The City of Adelaide has provided swimming and aquatic facilities in the city for more than 150 years. An outdoor facility was constructed in Denise Norton Park / Pardipardinyilla (Park 2) in 1969. In 1985 it was converted to an indoor aquatic centre as part of a joint Commonwealth, State and Local Government project.
The Adelaide Aquatic Centre (AAC) attracts over 715,000 visits per year with an estimated 8 per cent of annual visits made by City of Adelaide residents.
The Centre is open 364 days a year for up to 15 hours each day and is managed and operated by the City of Adelaide.
A summary of the current facilities is listed below:
