Have your say on the proposed Gawler Place Partial Road Closure as part of the Gawler Place Upgrade project.

Construction is planned to start in the first quarter of 2019 and the program is expected to take 52 weeks to complete.

Background

Gawler Place is being upgraded as part of developing the Rundle Mall Precinct as Adelaide’s premier shopping destination. To ensure that Gawler Place remains an attractive destination where people shop, visit and spend time the upgrade is seeking to balance pedestrian, cycling and vehicular traffic.

The proposed design includes kerb-less wider footpaths, greening to create shady walk ways, public seating, lighting, public art and activation areas.

The new design will provide a more enjoyable and attractive thoroughfare for many people’s daily walk and encourage people to spend more time in the street.

The partial closure of the road will help create a more vibrant and pedestrian friendly environment.
