UPDATE: March 2023 - Dog Leash Provisions

The Wetland in Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) has been declared a dog on-leash area as a result of a recent Council decision.

This follows the interactions observed between dogs and native water birds since the Wetland opened in May 2022. Signage advising park visitors of the new on-leash requirement will be installed at all Wetland entry points shortly.

Thank you for engaging with this project, consultation on which has now concluded. A summary of the community engagement and the submissions we received is available here.

The General Provisions were adopted by Council on 14 December 2021. The final document may be viewed by clicking here.

Background

The Local Government Act 1999 (SA) requires all Councils to prepare and adopt a management plan for the community land under their care and control. Under the Adelaide Park Lands Act 2005 the City of Adelaide must review the CLMP for the Adelaide Park Lands at least once every five years.

The review and updating of the General Provisions form part of this review.

The management plans for all parks within the Adelaide Park Lands are being reviewed and updated in stages in line with legislative requirements and to ensure they are consistent with the Adelaide Park Lands Management Strategy 2015-2025 and current plans and policies.

We are seeking your feedback on the draft General Provisions of the Adelaide Park Lands Community Land Management Plan (CLMP). These introduce the CLMP by providing an overarching framework and information that applies to all areas of the Park Lands.

*Note: Consultation period has been extended to 5pm, Friday 10 September 2021*

Completed submissions can enter the draw to win an Adelaide Central Market Voucher.
