Council is working with the Garden East Community to pilot enhanced waste and recycling services.The aim of the Pilot is to replace the existing kerbside ‘suburban’ service with a new service designed to meet the specific needs of high density apartment buildings in the City. We have been working with Building Management Committees to develop the Pilot.

It involves:
• Introducing larger capacity, split-lid waste and recycling bins;
• Providing a new weekly organics and food recycling service;
• Changing the yellow-lid loose recycling frequency from fortnightly to weekly;
• Improved on-street placement of bins to benefit residents, traders and other City-users.

    Council is working with the Garden East Community to pilot enhanced waste and recycling services. ACC worked with Building Management Committees to develop the Pilot, and sought feedback from residents and owners during July 2013.

    A consultation pack was distributed to residents and owners about the proposed changes. It included a survey about people’s recycling behaviours before the changes were introduced. This project update provides a description of changes, and a summary of the feedback we received from the survey and at the Information Night which was held on 16 July 2013.
