Project Information and Background
We are seeking your feedback on the proposed reconfiguration of traffic flow in Field Street from two-way to one-way. Pursuant to section 32 of the South Australian Road Traffic Act 1961, the City of Adelaide hereby gives notice that it is proposing to close Field Street, Adelaide between Gouger Street and Wright Street to all motor vehicles travelling in a northbound direction except bicycles, emergency services vehicles and City of Adelaide authorised vehicles (see Fig.1 below).

The upgrade to the streetscape in Field Street is an objective of the City of Adelaide’s 2019/20 Integrated Business Plan (IBP). This proposed upgrade follows on from the Wright Court and Field Street Streetscape Upgrades consultation that was conducted between August and September 2018 (see lifecycle opposite).
The Field Street Streetscape upgrade will incorporate many changes including the reconfiguration of traffic flow in Field Street from two-way to one-way and the planting of additional trees in the street.

The consultation ran for 21 days and included a drop-in session held at the Minor Works Building.

Consultation focused on concept plans for the proposed upgrade, which included ascertaining support for the planting of additional trees in Field Street and the conversion of Field Street to a way one-way street.
