Lighting works at the The North Adelaide Small Dog Park have been completed and the park has been reopened.
Council is now proceeding with phase 3 of improvements to North Adelaide Dog Park. Phase 3 will see lighting installed in the Small Dog Park and work to pathways conducted between 3 April and 12 May 2017. During construction the Small Dog Park will be closed. Dogs will still be able to use the All Dog Park while the work is in progress.
On 29 January 2012, the North Adelaide Dog Park (NADP) in Ngapa Yarta (Park 5) opened at a cost of $370,000. Since opening, the NADP has been well received and used by local residents and visitors who travel from 59 suburbs across Metropolitan Adelaide to visit the park. (Study conducted by the University of South Australia (UniSA).
The study reviewed user behaviour, community satisfaction and gathered information on suggested park improvements. The top five desired improvements are:
In September 2014 Council approved funds of $97.5k to implement design improvements and overcome maintenance issues in North Adelaide Dog Park.
In February 2016 Council approved additional funding for phase 2 of the project to install lighting in the All Dog Park and along the Lefevre Road entrance pathway. This project was a result of the feedback you provided, with lighting the number one desired improvement. The provision of lighting for public safety of users will further support community use of the North Adelaide Dog Park specifically after daylight hour usage.
